A four chair studio that never wanted to be a chain.
We opened in 2016 with two chairs, a secondhand backwash and a rule that still holds: one client per stylist at a time.
Rowan had spent nine years behind other people’s chairs, mostly in rooms where the schedule was built around turning appointments over rather than getting them right. Ember & Oak Salon started as the opposite of that. Longer slots. Real consultations. A color formula written down and kept on file so your third visit matches your first.
The barber side came two years later, when enough clients asked whether they could bring a partner or a son along and get both done in one trip. Now the studio runs four chairs: two for cutting and color, one for barbering, one for blowouts and event styling.
Most people find us because they liked somebody else’s haircut and asked where it came from. That is still the only marketing we have ever really trusted.

The consultation is the service
Nothing gets clipped up until we know how you dry it, how often you get in, and what you have hated in the past.

No upselling from the chair
If a treatment won't change anything for you, we say so. You will never be talked into a product on your way to the till.

Grow-out is part of the plan
We cut and paint for week six, not just for the mirror on the day. That is why the color work sits soft at the root.

Time is the appointment
One client per stylist at a time. No double booking, no leaving you under a dryer while somebody else gets the attention.

Trained in dry cutting and can talk you out of bangs, or into them, with a straight face either way.

Runs the barber side of the studio. Fast without ever feeling rushed, and takes walk-ins most afternoons.

Last cut goes in the chair forty-five minutes before close. Color and balayage need a longer window, so book those earlier in the day.
Where our clients come from
Silver Hollow and the towns either side of it.
The studio sits on 123 Main Street with metered parking out front and a free lot behind the building. Most of the chair time comes from these neighborhoods and nearby towns.
